Brown fiber / Lignocellulosic biomass

Brown fiber refers to plant-derived materials that contain cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Examples of brown fiber include wood chips, sawdust, agricultural residues, and straw. These materials are abundant and widely available, making them suitable for biochar production.

Lignin-rich digested stillage constitutes a good feedstock for biochar production by slow pyrolysis.
