Secretary General <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ant%C3%B3nio_Guterres\">Ant\u00f3nio Guterres<\/a> described the latest Intergovernmental Panel<br \/>on Climate Change (\u201cIPCC\u201d) report on climate as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/press.un.org\/en\/2021\/sgsm20847.doc.htm\">code red for humanity.\u201d<\/a> The report stated that<br \/>\u201cGlobal warming of 1.5\u00b0C and 2\u00b0C will be exceeded during the 21st century unless deep reductions in<br \/>carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions occur in the coming decades.\u201d6 He added:<br \/>\u201cIf we combine forces now, we can avert climate catastrophe. Innovation in most of these sectors is not a new phenomenon.<\/b><\/p><p>Today, the scale of innovation needed to solve the climate crisis needs to be transformational as well as incremental.\u00a0<br \/><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var(--wp--preset--color--background); color: var(--wp--preset--color--body-text); font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--normal);\">Efficiency improvements alone are not sufficient. Yet, for companies in the S&amp;P 500, average R&amp;D spending in 2020 was close to 0% of revenues for <b>Utilities (0.0%)<\/b>, Industrials (0.7%), and the <b>Energy sector (0.1%)<\/b> (compared to 10.2% in Healthcare and 11.4% in Information Technology, and 5% for Tesla, for example). The Oaktree is carbon-negative<\/li>\n<li>Reducing GHG, medical residue, heavy metals and toxins from water treatment<\/li>\n<li>Agriculture, Biochar sequesters carbon dioxide not only when produced, but also an additional 50% after being placed in the soil, improves the nutrient density in the yields, reduces the runoff from the soil, and works as a buffer by absorbing and holding water, which helps versus exessive rain and drought.<\/li>\n<li>Reducing GHG in multiple ways for several Industrial manufacturing, also reducing the usage of environmentally unfriendly materials.<\/li>\n<li>Reducing GHG in transportation via Industry Standard 4.1 where The Oaktree continuously works with minimizing transportation, and potentially through the production of biofuel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><b>The Oaktree will:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce (GHG) Green House gases from wastewater plants.<\/li>\n<li>Destroy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/pfas\/our-current-understanding-human-health-and-environmental-risks-pfas\">PFAS<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Produce industrial-scale of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoaktree.us\/?page_id=330\">Biochar<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoaktree.us\/?page_id=346\">Ash<\/a> can be used as feedstock for algae farming as limestone replacement in agriculture, or as a binder in cement.<\/li>\n<li>Reducing and destructing GHG, several other toxins such as PFAS, and medical residues from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/lmop\/basic-information-about-landfill-gas\">Landfill leachate<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Producing at an industrial scale raw material for advanced biomaterial, an area where the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2022\/09\/12\/executive-order-on-advancing-biotechnology-and-biomanufacturing-innovation-for-a-sustainable-safe-and-secure-american-bioeconomy\/\">US has to catch up<\/a> not to fall behind China.<\/li>\n<li>Producing energy at a scale where we can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/Blogs\/Articles\/2020\/12\/08\/blog-a-greener-future-begins-with-a-shift-to-coal-alternatives\">replace coal plants without increasing the cost<\/a> for our citizens or our companies, enabling SC to not only be the Greenest state but also the most competitive (<b>Note:<\/b>&nbsp;The Oaktree way compared to solar and wind, generates a lot of new jobs for our State).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>By doing all of the above, we see that we can mitigate both the technological, as well as the financial risks from high to low\/moderate. With this, there&#8217;s a good chance that South Carolina for the first time ever, becomes a leader and not an importer, or follower of global technological leadership.&nbsp;<br><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var(--wp--preset--color--background); color: var(--wp--preset--color--body-text); font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--normal);\">The Oaktree matches most of the tax credits requirements that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sccommerce.com\/\">South Carolina Department Of Commerce<\/a> as well as the Federal puts up, which helps to push the financial risk downwards, something that established corporations don&#8217;t,. On top of the Tax credits, South Carolina offers a Tax Equity solution in terms of <a href=\"https:\/\/scjeda.com\/\">JEDA Bonds<\/a>, which few states in the US do. In most cases, The Oaktree will also be located in so-called Opportunity Zones, which gives an additional reduction of the financial risk, at the same time The Oaktree gives back through job
